Relocating from the UK to sunny Portugal. Why?
Portugal is where I was born and lived before I moved to the UK in 2004. It never stopped feeling like home and for years I have been dreaming of moving back. Lucky for me, my partner (who is British) also fell in love with it and the portuguese lifestyle. When Covid hit, and we suddenly weren’t able to travel over to Portugal, not even to visit my family, we decided it was finally time to take the plunge. So in October 2022 we moved to Porto, Portugal.
Now I work from my studio in Porto, Portugal and continue to do remote photoshoots for UK and EU based small businesses. Of course, if you are in Portugal you’d be welcome to attend the photoshoot in person!
A remote photoshoot is where the client sends me the products they need photographed by post and after the photoshoot I return the products by post. The photoshoot is plan is discussed with the client and, if requested, the photoshoot may be made available via a private like for the client to oversee the images. The final images are then edited and send to the client by email.
You may already be familiar with international delivery through your own business and may be happy to use your chosen courier for this. This is totally fine!
If you are based in the UK and are not sure where to start with international delivery I’m here to help you work everything out. I have done some digging and found UPS Small Business offer very competitive prices. They will take any parcel up to 70kg and the prices are only determined by the box size. The parcel will be delivered within 5 working days. I can also advise that you identify your products as samples when filling out the commercial invoice form to avoid custom charges.
If you are based in the EU, UPS and DHL are also good options. Postage within the EU does not incur with custom charges so no need for a commercial invoice. Easy!
